WOODEN CRATES & PALLETS

Wood crates and pallets are commonly used in custom packaging designs. Customizing crates and pallets for large, heavy, or delicate components ensures the necessary strength for heavy shipments and provides the required protection for delicate items. Additionally, custom sizing helps minimize shipping costs.

Wooden crates are among the most rigid and robust packaging solutions for heavy or valuable products. They are available in various shapes and sizes, and are both reusable and recyclable. Customized crates are also availabe with custom paintwork, stenciling and custom inserts. 

Wooden pallets come in both softwood and hardwood options. Customized sizes and designs are available.

Both wooden crates and pallets are heat treat certified for international shipping.

To ensure products reach their final desintation intact, it's crucial to use packaging that is adequately protective without being excessive.

Customizing Crates
SmartShield frequently design and build wood crates that are engineered for repeated use with highly customized structures. These crates often feature removable panels, ramps, casters, foam sets, or a combination of these elements. Additionally, customized crates are often painted or stenciled.

Customizing Pallets
SmartShield customize wooden pallets with a solid top board, or strategically placed top boards to provide support where needed, and well-engineered customized runner designs ensure the necessary strength.

What is heat treated wood?
Heat treated wood has been heated to a minimum of 56C (132.8F) for at least 30 consecutive minutes. No chemicals are used. It is used to kill harful organisms such as insects, pests and pathogens that may be present in wood. 

Why is heat treating wood crates and pallets recommended?
All custom designed crates and pallets are constructed with heat treated wood to comply with international shipping regulations (ISPM 15). Tsis process prevents the spread of invasive species that could harm local agricultre or ecosystems.
Additionally, it offers an extra layer of assurance to all companies and supply chains within the country. Heat-treated wood is more durable, and less likely to suffer from rot or fungal growth, ensuring goods shipped are well protected and the packaging won't cause damage or delay due to pest issues.
