Plastic strap guards are made from robust plastic with ribbed channels that also prevent the strap from sliding.

CARDBOARD CORNER EDGE PICES / STRAP PROTECTORS:
Cardboard strap protectors are made from smooth, rigid, cardboard (fiberboard), a more ecofriendly choice than plastic.
