Seamless Custom Packaging: 5 Steps to Success

September 27, 2024

For the industries we work with - defense, aerospace, robotics, medical, manufacturing, and more - super secure, next-level packaging is non-negotiable.

These sectors deal with highly sensitive, valuable, and sometimes hazardous components that demand the highest standards of protection.

In defense, packaging must ensure that critical equipment and materials arrive intact, regardless of the harsh environments they may encounter. For aerospace, even the smallest damage can have serious consequences, making precision packaging the only option.

In the medical field, safeguarding sterile instruments and devices is crucial to patient safety and regulatory compliance. Manufacturing and electronics sectors also require robust packaging solutions to protect delicate, high-tech components from damage during transport, handling, or storage.

Effective industrial packaging not only preserves product integrity but also protects the company’s reputation by preventing costly delays, defects, and potential failures in the field.

It’s why we’ve developed a streamlined process that ensures every packaging solution we deliver meets the unique needs of your business.

Whether you need foam sets, custom crates, shadow boards, or custom cardboard packaging, our process guarantees precision and quality every step of the way.

In this blog we’re going to show you how it works:

1. Initial Inquiry and Project Kick-Off

The first step is easy. Simply send us an email outlining your packaging requirements. Include key details such as the type of items you need packaged, how many units you require, and the timeline for when you need the solution.

2. Design Consultation and Information Gathering

Our design team will reach out to confirm the specifics and gather any additional information. The more detailed your input, the better we can tailor the solution to your needs. We often ask for CAD models of the items to be packaged for precise design.

However, if those aren’t available, we can work from drawings, physical parts, or even reverse engineer an existing package. We also offer 3D scanning services when required.

Our process is unique in that our clients liaise directly with the designer to ensure 1:1 service that meets the objectives from the outset.

3. Design Review and Approval

Next, we’ll provide you with images of the proposed packaging solution. This gives you a clear idea of how the design will function and protect your product. If needed, we’ll revise the design based on your feedback to ensure it meets all your requirements.

Once the design is final, we’ll send you a quote.

4. Sampling and Testing

Upon approving the quote, we will produce a sample for testing. For high-volume orders, we offer samples free of charge, while for lower volumes, the sample is included as part of the quoted cost.

This step allows you to verify the packaging solution before full production begins.

5. Production and Delivery

After you’ve approved the design and sample, we move forward with production. We don’t charge for design time, and we have no minimum order quantity. However, with larger orders comes greater cost-efficiency.
